My work with Peter Day (facilitator) for a strategy workshop in Oslo was one of the most prolific -and fun! graphic recording gigs I was ever part of. There were hot debates, colors, engaged people, sticky-to-the-mind visuals and there was delicious ice-cream, too.
And pop-corn!
This was a multi-day strategy workshop in which the staff took part, debated, aligned and created a new vision for their next years. The client was the industry leader in Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) technology.

This Strategy re-definition workshops was a crucial step in the evolving business landscape of imaging and processing the oceanโs bottom. For 3 days, the organization aligned their goals and envisioned a chart of futureโs steps.
The key of success for the innovative integration of graphic recording as a game-changer, was my collaboration with the main facilitator. Peter Day translated the business needs and goals into a strategic planning process where I was able to create tangible visual records of the conversations and dynamics and many visual tools (studio work custom made before the project or simply drawn there at Peter’s request) that were helpful in the process and long after it. I worked both with markers on paper (foamboard) and digitally.

How visual tools enhance the strategic planning process?

Graphic recording simplifies complex strategic concepts into digestible visuals. Simplification is helping fostering a collective understanding among the participants.

ย People feel listened to and their engagement grows, they want to actively participate and break down communication barriers.

By mapping out the strategic vision, graphic recording captures and maps out the direction and possibilities discussed, adding more clarity along the way.

The live and studio-work visuals prepared for the workshop are a catalyst of collective insights. Real-time scribing and the visual containers for participants inputs are supporting the collaborative decision-making process, so the collected visuals serve as a comprehensive and accessible reference for the defined strategy. Not only once, having a clear visual map in front of them helped participants to re-iterate real-time adaptation of strategic ideas or to fight the gaps in the process.
A truly well-deserved, delicious ice-cream with sprinkles in the brandโs colors!

ย p.s. In the memory of Peter Day, who inspired, taught me and led the days with a smile. Your memory is vivid and ever colored. Rest in peace.
